About me
Hello there!
I’m Flavius Cojocariu, an Engineering Leader based in Munich, Germany. I lead two platform teams at IU Group — Germany’s largest university — owning the technical direction for student-facing platforms serving over 100,000 users. My work spans platform architecture, team building, and engineering strategy.
With 13+ years in software engineering and 5+ years in engineering leadership, I’ve built teams from scratch, driven monolith-to-microservices migrations, introduced observability and DORA-aligned practices, and designed data architectures across organizational boundaries. I operate at the intersection of hands-on technical depth and organizational leadership.
I work alongside Heads of Engineering and Directors on cross-company data strategy, and I’ve been selected for task forces that shape how data flows across pre-sales, sales, and post-sales. My peer group is HoEs and Directors — I contribute to quarterly alignment on cross-platform strategy, team structure, and organizational planning.

Senior Engineering Manager (Platform Ownership) | IU Group, Munich, Germany (Jan 2024 - Present)
Led two engineering teams with full dual ownership of MyCampus Classic (Moodle) and MyCampus 2.0, serving 100,000+ students at Germany's largest university. Delivered the first zero-downtime, zero-incident major intake in 8+ years (October 2025). Consolidated 15+ repos into a NestJS monorepo, cutting maintenance by ~45%. Zero attrition through 3 reorgs. Selected for the cross-company data unification task force alongside HoEs and Directors.

Senior Software Engineer | remberg GmbH, Munich, Germany (Jan 2022 - Dec 2023)
Played a key role in architectural decision-making and led code refactoring efforts, transitioning backend features to NestJS for improved code quality.
